Sweet Escape to HK ~ Lan Kwai Fong

Lan Kwai Fong, a place where people go for a drinking and clubbing, a small streets in Central, HongKong. Read it from Wikipedia, that area suppose was dedicated to hawkers before Second World War.

It seems like it's a 'must visit' place while travelling to Hong Kong but to me there's other places in Hong Kong is much more interesting than here...

The view of Lan Kwai Fong in night time is totally different compare to day time. I was passing by this street again the next day and I didn't realize there's the place where I came last night. No more happening pubs or bars but just a busy crowded street before the moon comes out!

Met up with one of friend, Felina who works as Stewardess for Cathay. Nice catching up with her for a drink.

If it's entertainment and nightlife you seek, you've come to the right place. A hub of trendy restaurants, teeming bars and chic nightclubs renowned worldwide for being a hedonist's paradise. Located in the heart of Central, the area attracts both tourists and locals alike, all seeking fun and good time.

Bumped into some youngster who share their art of music in Lan Kwai Fong. Dance and sing as they like... I personally prefer this kind of music more than any music from the pub or bar in Lan Kwai Fong.

The Sweet Escape to Hong Kong

I had a "sweet" escape from Penang to Hong Kong with Danny! Na.. it's not the first time I've been there but due to the reason of Mr.Danny can't speak a fluent Cantonese so it's my honor to be his tour guide. Going to Hong Kong doesn't not make me feel strange as people over there speak the same language as me.

But there's something really surprised me when I reached the hotel! TaDa!!! The 'BIGass' hotel that I ever stayed. ><..... it's so small but there's nothing much you can complain about it... There's a bathroom for you to bath, pee and poo; there's a TV for you to watch some TV show; they also provided you the hair dryer and kettle. It's considered as a complete set for a hotel room but the space of it is just so..... impressed me... =.='

Our sweet escape is just about to start....

Hong Kong, a lively city where modern skyscrapers meet cultures of the past. And we are going to enjoy our 6 days holiday in this place...
Here's it... the Legislative Council which is located in Central, HK

Old building and modern building can simply find over here...

The statue of HSBC banker, Sir Thomas Jackson

The old main Hong Kong police station

As you can read it from the building, it's Western Market

Hong Kong of old

When Lemon bumped into Happy Lemon....

Super Duper lock of a boutique in HK... This looks so damn funny... haha...

Having a beer before heading back to the BIGass hotel!

The trip was so fun when you travel with the one who you love together.... =)

The Secret of Lorong Kulit

Penang is a great place to stay. You can simply experience different type of cultures over here. And today, I and Chewwis had explored another interesting place in Penang and it’s called ‘Lorong Kulit’…

I went to Lorong Kulit with Chewwis yesterday after teaching music. I have been staying in Penang for 7 years and heard people mentioned the name of 'Lorong Kulit' several times. However, I never ever make myself free before to visit this place… Finally, I made it today!

Lorong Kulit is a flea market. From the research through internet that I had just done, I know that the Lorong Kulit flea market had its humble beginnings in late 1992 when the municipal council cleared out the second hand goods dealers from Rope Walk, located off Penang Road in the town centre, where they had been trading by the roadside since the 1970s.
You can find out lots of funny old things over there such as electric stuff, watches, shoes, second-hand goods, antique, dvd and mobiles, too. Well, I have to admit myself that I’m not good in bargaining. So, I didn’t actually buy anything from there but just had a ‘window-shopping’

My mother did tell me something about Lorong Kulit before while I was in college time, ‘If your thing get stolen, you might be able to find it back at Lorong Kulit because it has a reputation of being a thieves market.’
Whether it is true or not about the saying of ‘Thieves Market’ but it is just a fun place that you should go and take a look and experience it.

For your information, the flea market is open from 8am to 2pm every day except when it rains. I’m here to suggest you that it’s better to visit the market during Sunday because there are more stalls and stuff to see. And another thing that I need to mention is… bring along a friend who is good in bargaining if you don’t know how to bargain with the dealer. Or not, you will get buried and cheated! >.<

North to South Trip @ "WORLD HERITAGE CITY"

During the day of my birthday, me, Danny and my sister drove the car down to Johor from Kuala Lumpur. We were trying to reach there before 12am so that I can celebrate my birthday with my beloved mom and grandma.

Danny is still the driver of the whole trip ><

Me and sister 'relak-relak' sit inside the car and do nothing.... hehe...

No plan is always the best plan. Visited to Malacca is not in our schedule of the trip at first. While we on the way went down to Johor, my sis and Danny suggested that why not we just dropped by Malacca for a while as it seems like still got a little bit of time to spend before we straight away reach to Johor and I agreed with their suggestion. It's been ages since the last time I visited to Malacca, if I'm not mistaken, the last trip to Malacca is my primary graduated school trip which is happened 13 years ago. =.='

I had forgotten the beautiful of this world heritage city. But... it's always not too late for us to figure it out. Malacca is a small city but with many attractive modern and old establishments. To me, it is easy to go around to explore the many places that make Malacca unique. I see the rich heritage and history that has shaped the landscape and left a mark on Malaysia's cultural lifestyle.

This little world heritage city is decorated with red lanterns and greeting words in front of the old heritage houses and I started feeling the Chinese New Year spirit with all the lovely decorations~~~

Tried some Durian puff in Malacca and it tastes delicious...

I Love Durian Puff~~~ Anything about Durian, I LOVE!!!

We had a cup of coffee at Geographer cafe, the service is good, and the price of food and drinks here are reasonable and cheap.

Thanks god we finally found a place to cheer before it rains so heavily...

Malacca's trishaw is much more 'colourful' and 'creative' with the decorations compare to Penang's trishaw...

I really need to say thank you to one of my friend, Jimmy here. Without his information, I don't know that Malacca has a place that sells super delicious cake. After Jimmy saw me posted some photos of the Malacca in facebook and then he recommended me to find a place that called Nadeje which is selling delicious cakes. With the additional help of GPS, we finally found this place! ^^

Trust me... You gotta taste it yourself then you will only know how delicious it is. This shop is not only selling cakes but other food and it's famous of the mille crepe cake. To me, original flavor is still the best among the others variety like chocolate, rum, raisins, strawberry, or chess. I got no idea how they can keep the crepe layers soft. It will never be too sweet for those who don't like sweet dessert.

We ordered the original mille cripe and choco favor. Oh my god~~~ I just love the mille cake there, wish that it has another branch in Penang ><>

A street called Lebuh Armenian

It was a wonderful Saturday~~~
2 weeks ago, Danny and I were looking for the "Amelia" cafe after breakfast.
and finally, we reached a street called Lebuh Armenian, the street where Amelia cafe is located at...

It's just a short and small street but I felt so impressed...
We saw lots of antique and old stuff over there...
and this is one of the reason
WHY I LOVE PENANG....

Cheah Kongsi

Mahjong ^^ my favourite activity XD

Here's some history about Armenian Street that I read in internet:

Armenian Street is a street in the inner city of George Town and within the core zone of the Unesco World Heritage Site. It derives its name from a Armenian family that had its home at the junction of the now Armenian Street and Beach Street in the early part of the 19th century. The Armenians had arrived in Penang by way of India. By 1822, they had established their church, the Armenian Church of St Gregory, which was located when Bangunan Mayban Trust standing today. It was some eleven years older than the Armenian Church of St Gregory in Singapore. It was demolished around 1937, by which time most of the Armenians had packed up and left Penang.

In the earlier days, Armenian Street was known as Malay Lane. This is due to the presence of a Malay settlement, which can still be seen today with such monuments as the Acheen Street Mosque and Penang Islamic Museum in that vicinity.

Armenian Street developed more and more a Chinese appearance as Chinese traders moved into the area from the turn of the 20th century. Clan temples such as Cheah Kongsi,Yap Kongsi and Khoo Kongsi were established either on or within a stone's throw of Armenian Street. Traders and merchants of these clans helped to finance the mining of tin in the Larut district of Perak, which resulted in much prosperity flowing into the Armenian Street area from the 1860s right through to the early 20th century.

Unfortunately, Amelia cafe was closed due to the reason of renovation while we finally found it.

gotta find another place to have a drink...

With a bit disappointed that the Amelia cafe was closed... I found another cafe called "Edelwiess" =) and I did found some suprise over there...

Nice bar

Danny ^^

We ordered a cup of latte and brew coffee...

Danny taught me a way to taste latte... pour the sugar on top of the foam, so while you drink it, you might taste the sweetness on your lips but it wouldn't spoil the original taste of latte...
I'm still a beginner of tasting coffee so I hardly rate the coffee over there...
What I can say is OK la... not so bad but not that good... and the price is reasonable.... cheaper that Starbucks XP

Me and Danny

Well, I think it's time to explore more places in Penang! I have been staying at Penang for 6 years and I just start learning to speak Hokkien and appreciate every single litlle place of Penang... Hope that it's not considering as late yet to me to do so =)
