Capon . The Best Chicken I Ever Tasted

Have you ever taste Capon? To me, it's the best chicken dish I ever tasted!

I only tasted it once during CNY with my uncle. In chinese words, they call this 阉鸡 (Capon). I don't really know what's the different between normal chicken and capon until but it's definitely taste better. They tend to have more tender, flavorful flesh as well as a higher fat content.

After doing some research through the internet, I just know that a capon is a rooster that has been castrated to improve the quality of its flesh for food. the process of turniing a rooster into a capon is known as 'caponication'.

Caponication happens between 6 and 20 weeks of age, depending on the producer and the chicken breed. Heritage chicken producers remove the testes of the cockerel surgically.

As a result of caponization, a capon becomes much more mellow, losing the aggression commonly associated with roosters. This makes capons easier to handle and also changes the way in which their meat matures. Capons have more tender, fatty flesh because they are not as active as roostes are. The also tend to taste less gamy, because they do not develop sex hormones, which can impact the flavor of the flesh.

In the kitchen, roast capon is moist, flavorful and very tender since the flesh starts out tender and the higher fat content acts as natural basting agent. A high quality capon has a dramatically different flavor than traditional roast chicken.

Unfortunately, the industrialization of meat production has made capons rare. Chicken breeds raised for meat are engineered to mature quickly, so that they can be sent to market in as little as five weeks. This rapid development has an impact on overall flavor and quality of the meat which most consumers are not even aware of because they have never tasted more naturally raised meat.

Oh... I just miss the taste of Capon again................ ><

甜品哥哥 DESSERT GO GO

I'm a all time dessert lover! Dessert is happy food. It's spelled 'stressed' backwards after all. To release my 'stressed', dessert is always the first food which come across my mind to make myself happy.

I like to hunt for my dessert in this Hong Kong style dessert outlet which is called 甜品哥哥. It has so many different kind of dessert. From pudding to Syrup. I assume you can find one of your favorite desserts over here.

Here's one of the famous dessert in 甜品哥哥. DURIAN PANCAKE!!!
Inside the pancake is filled with cream and durian. yes, it's filled with real durian. So once you bite it, you can taste the durian inside your mouth.

Perhaps, they are not just putting a small piece of durian inside the pancake. Look at it, IT'S A BIG AMOUNT OF DURIAN inside of it ><'''' If you like to eat durian, for sure you are gonna like this dessert, too!

Another favorite dessert of mine, Mango Chee Cheong Fun.

炖蛋 ( I don't really the name of this dessert in English =.=''' )

This is the first time I tried Fresh hot milk with egg, it's looks a bit weird before taste it because I got no idea how's the taste... egg plus milk... hmmm....

Surprisingly, the taste of this drink is GOOD! While drinking it, you can slightly taste the egg in the milk. But both of the taste can blend together pretty well.
Seems like my sister very enjoying it... hehe...

The right choice of dessert can make for the right kind of mood. Chocolate and strawberries can be aphrodisiacs, ice-cream makes anyone happy and comforted. That's why I love dessert!!! ^^

新不了情(Liz's Piano Version)

It's Never Be Too Late To Start Over

I had a great drinking session plus a great chat with my friends yesterday. A great chat will definitely make you grow a lot and see things widely. No doubt, as what my friend describes about me, I had lived my life in comfort zone in Penang for the past few years. I got so much talents but I never learn to fully utilize it. Recently, I recall back those years I have spent in Penang. It's just like a dream to me. Have I really achieve something? NOTHING!!! Shouldn't use the word of wasted but I just simply let my years passed by me without any great achievement.

Never ever think of having my life in KL before however... faith brings me here... Everything seems new to me, I know there's plenty of obstacles are waiting for me to go through it before I really get what I want. But I decided to take this challenge and I believe myself that I can handle it very well. Life does bring me down sometimes, but it never kills me but just make me grow stronger. Life is up and down provide windows of opportunity to determine my values and goals, I'm going to use all obstacles as stepping stone to built the life I want.

Nowadays, I always repeat asking myself, will it be too late for me to start over in another new place? No! I shouldn't let those negative thinking beats me down. One of the biggest mistakes I can make is to believe I'm too old. Too old for what? For living my life more fully? For daring to “be what you might have been”?

I don’t want to wake up one day in the future wondering what might have been if I had pursued my interest where it led. It’s important to learn how to follow the promptings of your heart, to listen to your heart’s wisdom. When your heart tells you it’s time to change, see it as a call and an opportunity to live your life more authentically. I wish it’s never too late to start over.

When you know what you want, you’re already halfway there. 25 years is not considered young but it's not old to a girl like me to start over and rebuild a life that what I want. What I need to do is... I have to believe myself I can do it!

My favorite quote of today : IT IS NEVER BE TOO LATE TO BE WHO YOU MIGHT HAVE BEEN ~ George Eliot.

Chances are always given out for those who has prepared well! And I has prepared and ready for my new goal of life! :-)

Life is Like a Cup of Coffee ~~Spiritual Story by Unknown

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups have been taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups.

Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of life we live.

Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee. Savor the coffee, not the cups! The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything. Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.

...................................

Life is like a cup of coffee. Coffee is bitter but almost everyone loves it. Life has many suffering but almost everyone loves to have life. People add sugar and milk to coffee to make it less bitter. Everyone adds variety to life to make life less boring and suffering.

Life Is like a cup of coffee. Coffee is so additive. Those who drink coffee everyday cannot live a day without coffee. Life is additive as none of us is willing to give up life.

Life is like a cup of coffee. To enjoy a cup of coffee, you must enjoy every sip. To enjoy life, you must enjoy everyday of your life.

Life is like a cup of coffee. Sometimes you like to drink coffee alone and sometimes in a group. Life is the same. Sometimes you like to be alone and sometimes with your loved ones.

Life is like a cup of coffee. There are many types of coffee just like there are many different types of life.

Life is like a cup of coffee. Coffee tastes best when it is hot. Same for your life. You are enjoying life when you are "hot" in luck, "hot" among your friends and "hot" in your career. Being "hot" is like the afternoon sun, strongest and brightest part of your whole life.

Next time when you drink a cup of coffee, reflect about your life.

My DIY Table Mats

Just bought myself some nice papers from Smidapaper which is located at Strait Quay. I was so crazy about the papers over there while the first time I walked into the shop. However, the price of the papers there are not that cheap but still can consider as affordable. And I finally bought a small pack of paper that comes with 10 designs and each designs 3 pieces and it only cost me RM28.

TaDA!!! This is what I bought from Smidapaper shop and I was so excited about getting those papers. You got no idea how much I love the papers there.

Total 10 designs and each design comes with 3 pieces. And I'm going to use these papers to DIY myself some unique table mats to enhance my dining table.

I plan to make 4 table mats for my house but due to the reason each design only comes with 3 pieces and I can't separate them equally so I decided to use the technique of collage to cut and paste those papers together.
First, I arrange the papers nicely on a A3 size paper and I glue them together.

And then I turn the paper to the back side and it seems there's lot of outstanding paper.

So I trim the outstanding paper according the A3 size paper.

After that, I seal it up with transeal paper. It just has the same effect and result as lamination to protect the paper from water so it wouldn't be spoiled.

At the end, my DIY table mats are done!!! Looks simple but nice ^^

Here's another design that I made.

Now, my house has four little lovely table mats and it does really enhance my dining table. I feel so satisfied towards the result of DIY table mats. The designs bring out the little cottage feel successfully and this is just what I want.

And the most important thing is... this table mat is unique as you can only find it in my house. Nobody has the same like me unless someone is trying to copy mine ><

The world of art is boundless and paper is everywhere. Paper is the most inexpensive and readily available material, yet it is often forgotten and neglected as a craft, hobby and an art medium. I should even say it is a skill that a person can acquire rather easily.

Personally, the best part of paper crafts is that you can do it on your own. You can make your own beautiful and cute arts with your own hands and sometimes it’ll be more sentimental when you puts your thoughts into it. And it means a lots to you instead you just simply buy something from the market or shopping center.

It’s a fun and a great pastime. Maybe you can try out yours when you are free. ^^ Let's enjoy the greatness of DIY~~~
